    Hi, I have a PE1950 with a 2.5" x 4 backplane and PERC 5i.  urrently it has 3 x 2.5" SAS drives on a RAID 5 configured single volume.   want to add a large capacity 2.5" drive in the empty 4th slot and use it as a single-disk backup volume.  ust I purchase a SAS drive or can I use a SATA drive?  lso, if SATA is a possibility, which interposer and caddy will I need, if any?     Hi! I am new to the server world but I have been around desktops and laptops for a while. I recently got a Dell Poweredge and I need help putting it into RAID 10. The server has 6 146GB SCSI HDD and a Perc 4e card. I want to have 2 HDD be hot-swaps (I know how to do this) and then have a RAID 10 with the 4 remaining HDD. How do I get RAID 10? I know how to get 2 RAID 1 going. After I set up the RAID 10 with the 2 hot-swap HDD's, is there any other steps I need to do like rebuild/initialize?

    Hello all,Hoping somebody may be able to help me out here.   have a poweredge 2800 with 4x73GB drives in raid 5.  ne of the drives failed and the replacement drives I've procured have a different firmware rev and subsequently show up as having .50GB less capacity than the other drives.Because of this iscrepancy t won't perform a rebuild w\ the drives in their current state.  ot sure if I can flash the firmware on the drive or not.. am waiting to hear back from Hitachi support.  Am also running into issues w\ booting the system.  n order to boot the system I have to enter the raid config through bios and set the failed drive to

    Hi!please help me. i have configuration as above in title, Firmware for Sas 6/ir latest version 00.25.47.00.But it controler negotiated link speed with SSD 330 Intel only at 1.5Gb. i can see it in "Sas topology" section of the Bios controler.     I cannot for the life of me get the controller to detect any physical drives. They are Dell branded drives. Any ideas of particular BIOS settings I may need to change? The box was originally set up RAID 10 on the S110 raid but I deleted that and tried with the software raid both disabled and enabled and still no luck. Didn't see anything that would indicate a firmware issue but: lt;/p PERC H710  21.0.2-0001 BIOS v1.2.6 Thanks!

    Hi, I want to increase the drive space on a RAID 5, using a Perc 6/i and the server is running VMWare ESXi 5.1. The server is a PowerEdge 2950 with 3 x 500GB SAS drives and I want to add a 4th 500GB SAS drive. I've added the new 4th drive but my only options within the BIOS drive admin (CRTL-R) is to 'add as hot-swap' - nothing to add it to the RAID5 container. Any help appreciated. Many thanks - Martin

    Hi, We have 3 PowerEdge 2900's with PERC 5/i SCSI setups. The issue we have is Windows is reporting the System disk on all 3 servers is an iSCSI even though the disks are local. This is causing a problem because Backup Exec does not support the convert to virtual feature for iSCSI disks. Could anybody shed any light on why Windows is reporting it to be an iSCSI disk when it is a local SCSI? Thanks, Dan
